The Roosters opened their campaign with a 36-22 home win over Norwich City Saxons but it took a try ten minutes from time by new signing Adam Peel to see off the visitors.

The Roosters were 16-0 up inside the opening ten minutes with tries from Dan McCormack, Eddie Drummond and Steven Baskerville but the Saxons were ahead at the break 16-18 after touchdowns by Sam Turner, Barry O’Sullivan and Alex Bruggen. Stand off Baskerville’s second touchdown, edged the Roosters back in front 20-18 but winger Andy Thornton went over out wide to make it 20-22 to the visitors. Andrew Dean crossed for the Roosters to keep the game alive before centre Peel struck. McCormack ended the scoring with his second try. In all, Baskerville kicked four goals. The game was refereed by Mr John Connolly.
